Q. Library Borrowing Policies

- Who can borrow?
The following members of the IESE community may borrow library materials:

• Professors
• Students (including GEMBA and PhD)
• IESE Staff
• IESE Alumni Members

An IESE ID card is required to borrow items.

- How do I borrow books using the Self Check machine?
You can borrow items yourself using the Self Check machine, available in both the Barcelona and Madrid libraries:

1. Swipe your IESE card.
2. Select Check Out.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
4. Choose Print Receipt or Email Receipt to view your due dates.

📌 Important: You cannot borrow if you:
•    Have overdue items, or
•    Have reached your maximum loan limit.

- How do I return books?
•    Use the Self Check machine and then place the items in the Book Drop next to the machine.
•    If the library is closed, use the external Book Drop located outside the main door.

- Loan limits and borrowing conditions:
 

📌 Notes:

• Some books (e.g., recommended reading) are excluded from loan or have a shorter loan period (e.g., 7-day weekly loan).
• Faculty may request extended loans (up to an academic year) for selected items.
• Renewals can be made online unless the book has been requested by another user.
• To renew beyond 2 times, bring the item to the Library Desk.
• You are responsible for all borrowed items under your account.

- What do the colors of the book spine labels indicate?
In general (Barcelona and Madrid Libraries):

• White – One-month loan (unless marked "In-Library use only")
• Blue – One-week loan
• Green – Books for exclusive use within the Doctoral Program

In the Madrid Library:

• Pink – One-month loan: books exclusively for MiM students
• Pink with “Weekly loan” label – One-week loan: books exclusively for MiM students

- What happens if I have overdue books?

• Overdue items block borrowing and renewal privileges.
• You must return overdue items before you can:

- Renew other books
- Borrow new materials

- How can I manage my loans?

• Go to My Library Card (via Discovery)
• Sign in with your IESE credentials (@iese.edu or @iese.net)
• View borrowed items and renew online
