In Sabi (public and private companies):
- Search on the company name and once the company report is displayed click on Ownership data > Subsidiaries > Current subsidiaries on the right menu. You can also find information through Branches.
- To screen for companies by number of subsidiaries click on Ownership Data > Companies owning a subsidiary > No. of subsidiaries. Click on the range you want and hit OK. Click the View list of results button. A list of companies will appear. Click List format on the right menu. Click New format and scroll down to Size & group information > No. of recorded subsidiaries and click OK. The number of recorded subsidiaries will be added as a column.
- To find subsidiaries of companies headquartered in a different country. For example, you want to find Polish subsidiaries of Spanish-based companies:
- Choose Ownership Data.
- Click on Companies owning subsidiaries > Foreign Subsidiaries.
- In the "Location of the company" box type in "Spain" and in the "Location of the subsidiary" box "Poland" and click "OK."
- To display the results click on the "View lists of results" button, in the lower right-hand corner.
In Orbis (public and private companies):
- Search on the company name and once the company report is displayed click on Ownership data > Subsidiaries > Current subsidiaries on the left menu. You can also find information through Branches.
- To screen for companies by number of subsidiaries click on Ownership > Shareholders with > Specific number of subsidiaries. Click on the range you want and hit OK. Click the View list of results button. A list of companies will appear. Click Add/Remove columns on the top of the list. Click Ownership data > Subsidiaries > No. of subsidiaries and click Apply. Number of subsidiaries will be added as a column.
- To find subsidiaries of companies headquartered in a different country. For example, Spanish subsidiaries of Polish-based companies:
- Choose Ownership.
- Click on Shareholders with > Foreign Subsidiaries.
- Click on The subsidiary is located in a specific country or region, select “Spain” and click OK
- Choose Ownership.
- Click on Subsidiaries with > Shareholders (by profile), select “Poland” and click OK.
- To display the results click on the "View lists of results" button, in the lower right-hand corner.
In Capital IQ:
- Search for a company
- From the company profile page that appears, select "Corporate Tree" on the left navigation under "Investments".
MarketLine provides company profiles that include information on locations and subsidiaries.
Go to PitchBook, search by company name, select the correct company from the search results to open its profile page. Look for a tab or section labeled “Affiliates”.
Use LSEG Workspace (formerly Refinitiv Workspace): to retrieve a company tree by typing the company name or ticker symbol in the search bar, followed by the word TREE (e.g. Exxon TREE). Alternatively:
- From a company's Overview page, click the Open Company Tree Structure icon to the right of the company's name
- Filter and customize the display as desired. Grid View, Pedigree View, and Geographic View are available.
- The tree can be exported as an Excel file.
