Custom Search Fields allows you to search for your keywords within multiple document fields at the same time, and allows you to narrow your search to specific document fields within an article. These include headline, lead paragraph, descriptors, and source name.

You may have up to 27 custom search field lists and each can have a name of up to 25 characters. EachCustom Search Fields list can have up to 30 document fields selected. The following table explains what each available field contains.

Notes:

  • This is a searchable field, but not displayable in articles. It is limited to supplemental descriptive terms provided by some Information Providers. DE= is not recommended as a stand alone search. Please refer to Article ID # Article ID # 4024 for more information.

  • ** Factiva Company Codes are searchable using the FDS field tag, but are displayed in the CO field.

  • If you select a Custom Search Fields format that contains only one field name, you will not need to use the related field tag. For example, if you select a Custom Search Fields format to search in only the Author field, you will not need to use BY= in front of the author's name.

  • Your search strategy will continue to work if it contains sc=, the previously used source code field tag. But please be aware that rst= will appear in the Free text search box whenever you add sources or Dow Jones Intelligent IndexingTM using the blue arrow icon to the right of each source or indexing term.
