You can use various databases to access this information:

Go to Capital IQ and search for the company name in the search menu at the top. Click on the appropriate company from the result list, and in the Financials/Valuation section of the left-hand menu, select “Segments”. To retrieve a graph, click on the icon in the Fiscal Period column.

Go to Orbis and enter the company name for which you want to retrieve geographic segment data in the “Find a Company” search box. Click on the appropriate company from the results list to access the company report. Check the left-hand navigation menu for “Financials for listed companies” and click on  “Segment data – Business lines” or “Segment Data – Geographic Segments” to obtain the revenue and assets broken down by geographic regions. Please note that financial data can go back as long as 20 years if available.

LSEG Workspace (formerly Refinitiv Workspace):

  • Locate the company by name or ticker symbol
  • Click on the Financials tab and select Segments.
  • Use the drop-down under View to select Business Line by Segment or Geographic Line by Segment or Product Line by Segment.

You can access LSEG Workspace using the PCs available at the Barcelona (Financial Room) or Madrid Libraries. Please ask the staff for the password. Professors and researchers, for desktop application or web access please email library@iese.edu

Use WRDS (you need to obtain your WRDS account) and select Compustat North America and then “Segments

PitchBook, search for a company by name, select the correct company from the search results, and open its profile page. Navigate to the "Financials" tab and select the "Segments" section.

In MarketLine click on Companies, search for the company name in the left hand menu and then select the company you want. Once you have viewed the company report, go to the ”Profile” section in the left hand menu and select “Business Segments”.

Also, use Bloomberg (available in the Financial Room of Barcelona IESE Library. Ask staff for password):

  • First, type the company's ticker symbol, and then hit the <EQUITY> key. Type FA (Financial Analysis) and hit <GO>. Then, select the Segments tab.
  • Also, use the following commands to view desired data: E.g.,: type LVMH BB hit the <EQUITY> key then type FA PROD and hit the <GO> key: 
  • Product Segments: ticker <EQUITY> FA PROD 
  • Geographic Segments: ticker <EQUITY> FA GEO
