The Central Index Key (CIK) is a unique identifier assigned by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to entities that file reports with it.

Go to EDGAR Search: CIK Lookup U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission uses the CIK (Central Index Key) to identify companies, funds, and individuals who have filed disclosure with the SEC.

Compustat by WRDS (you need to obtain your WRDS account) is searchable by CIK.
